The Japanese Writings

There are 3 forms of writings in Japanese, and are known as
  • Hiragana 
  • Katakana 
  • Kanji 
Hiragana ひらがな 平仮名
Hiragana is the standard form of writing for Japanese words and phrases.

Katakana カタカナ 片仮名
Katakana form of writing are used for English words that are translated to Japanese. 
Example is Television is known as テレビ Terebi 

*Note: The letters (alphabets) for Hiragana and Katakana are totally different.

Kanji かんじ 漢字
The Japanese also use Chinese characters in their writings, and these are known as Kanji. Kanji are usually used to replace Hiragana words, but replacement may also be done for Katakana words, such as the above, Katakana カタカナ 片仮名

Today we will be learning numbers in malay,
(Hari ini kami akan belajar tentang nombor dalam Bahasa Melayu)

1 - Satu
2 - Dua
3 - Tiga
4 - Empat
5 - Lima
6 - Enam
7 - Tujuh
8 - Lapan
9 - Sembilan

10 - Sepuluh
11 - Sebelas
12 - Dua belas
13 - Tiga belas 
14, 15, ......, 19 (add 'belas' behind the single number)

20 - Dua puluh
30 - Tiga puluh
40, 50, ......, 90 (add 'puluh' behind the single number)

21 - Dua puluh satu
22 - Dua puluh dua
31 - Tiga puluh satu
32 - Tiga puluh dua
21, ......, 99 (after 'puluh', add single number behind the)

100 - Seratus / Satu ratus
200, ......, 900 (add 'ratus' behind the single number)

212 - Dua ratus dua belas
479 - Empat ratus tujuh puluh sembilan
And so forth......

A Language Blog

Though we wish to master different languages like many others too, this is near to impossible. It's not easy to master a language at all, even the one which we uses in our daily life. Therefore, being able to recognize, understand, and conduct simple conversations in different languages become a target we would like to achieve.
